HEAVY DEFICIT ON RAILWAYS.

In the Assembly Sir Thomas Watt, Minister of Public Works, stated that for the year ended March .‘sl the railways showed a deficit of £017,000. Increased rates since 1016 had produced £6,000.000. It was intended to erect grain elevators at Durban, Capetown, and 71 inland towns capable of dealing with 1,260,000 tons.
