TIMPANY'S. (From Our Own Correspondent.) When it became known that Mr John Matheson (who has sold his farm) was leaving the district, it was considered only firting that he should be tendered a farewell in a suitable manner. The function took place at Mr R. Wilson’s, and was attended by a large number of friends. Mr R. Wilson made the presentation, and in doing so referred in glowing terms to Mr Matheson’s many good qualities, and his never-failing readiness to give his services to the district whenever the opportunityoffered. Mr Wilson, in handing Mr Mafcheson a handsome travelling rug expressed, on behalf of the residents of the district, the esteem in which he was held and the regret with which they regarded his departure. Mr Matheson feelingly responded. Dancing was carried on with thorough enjoyment throughout tho evening under the guidance of Mrs Pay as M.C., to music by Messrs McLeod and Matheson. Vocal items wore rendered by Mr and Mrs Tapper (duet), and Miss Pettigrew- (recitation).
