j OBSERVANCES IN AUSTRALIA. I (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) SYDNEY, May 24. Many churches held Empire services on Sunday. Appeals were made for unity and concord. Mr Hughes, in a message to the Empire League, says: “The war is strengthening the bonds of kinship despite invidious counsels of disruption, which failed In separate us during war and should aho fail in peace time.” THE SYDNEY CELEBRATIONS. i SYDNEY. May 24. I (Received May 24, 11.25 pan.) Empire Day was celebrated by ail ! schools. Many public gatherings were held, and the city was decorated with bunting.
