DEATH OF CARRANZA. KILLED BY HIS OWN MEN. (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Reuter’s Telegrams.) NEW YORK, May 22. An official announcement from Mexico City states that Carranza and a number of his companions were killed in the attack by General Herrara in the Puebla mountains. Unofficial reports state that five companions with Carranza were killed. These are supposed to include Cabrera, Secretary of the Treasury; Carranza’s Chief-of-Staff’ Berlanga, and Bonillas, formerly Ambassador to the United States. The name* require confirmation. It, is stated that General Herrara laid the plot and led the forces which killed Carranza's party. It is also alleged that Herrara personally killed Carranza while he wa» sleeping. . , General Obregon has issued a statement that Carranza was assassinated by his own men under Herrara, a former Federal soldier of the Diaz regime. He scathingly upbraids Carranza’s followers for permitting the assassination. Obregon has telegraphed to his representatives at Washington announcing the complete pacification of Mexico. The revolution consummated the efforts to establish a real republic. Telegraphic and railway communication has been re-established throughout the country. CARRANZA’S REMAINS. BURIAL AT THE CAPITAL. MEXICO CITY, May 28. Carranza’s body has arrived. Private interment will be permitted.
