FIRES

OUTBREAK AT TE KUITT. (Per United Press Association.) TE KUITI, May 17. A fire occurred at the Mangapehi Trading Company’s store, which was destroyed, only the books being saved. The building and stock were insured for L 2500. The estimated loss to the company is 111500. The origin of the lire is unknown. The watchman passed shortly before and noticed nothing. Later he located the outbreak and gave the alarm. It is the second fire in a short period.
