Armenians still are slaughtered by the The German swears he cannot pay hie debt* Some busy miners stop a strike to work And Poland irritates a Soviet; The Prussian goes again upon the Spree And marches through the Brandenburger gate With “Kochs’’ for Kaiser and the Monarchy And echoes of the threadbare Hymn of Hate; But what are all these little things to us Who walk ecstatic 'neath a sun that glints t We pass as unimportant all that fuas And hope for sunny weather for the Prince 1 Our clothes are dear and sugar’s very short, Our butter, too, is like to soar in price But what of that ? We do not worrynought Can much disturb us if the day is nice. Proud Auckland got him first from the Renown, In Wellington he met the gay M.P.’s, In Christchurch got the freedom of the town But really we don’t lose our sleep for these! Pass down the streets and see the worried looks.
