The 3of ala left Calcutta on May 9 for Singapore, Java, Newcastle, and the principal New Zealand ports. The vessel is bringing a cargo of general Eastern merchandise. The Somerset, en route from St. John's, left Panama on April 29, and is expected to reach Auckland about May 21. .After unloading part of her cargo there and at Wellington the vessel will proceed to Australia to complete her discharge. The West meath sailed from Liverpool on April 23 for Wellington, Lyttelton. and Dunedin, and U due at the tirst-named port on June X L The Kararnea is scheduled to leave Montreal about the end of this month for New Zealand and Austndian ports. The Leitrim is fixed to leave London on May 22 for the four principal New Zealand ports. The Nichmaha left New York on April 15 for Lyttelton, Timaru, Dunedin. and Australian ports, and is expected at Lyttelton on May 21. The Dominion Meteorologist reports:— Rain has fallen on the West Coast district of the South Island, but elsewhere the weather has been changeable, with fair to cloudy conditions ruling. The barometer has remained low in the south, and strong north-west winds have predominated. Present indications are for westerly winds, moderate to strong and increasing northward of New Plymouth and Napier; strong to a gale elsewhere, backing to southerlies everywhere shortly; weather cluody and unsettled at times generally, with rain following in many parts; the barometer has a falling tendency, but is due to rise after about 20 hours.
