WEDDING

HILL —KING. An event of considerable local interest was the marriage of Miss Ethel King, third daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert King, “Sunnylaw,” Clifden, to Mr Hector Janies Hill, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Leonard Hill, “Rosebank,” Clifdon, on Wednesday, May 5. The event was celebrated in the Clifden Presbyterian Church, which was very nicely decorated by the friends of the happy couple. As this was the first marriage to take place in tho church, Miss King was presented with a handsome family Bible by the Rev. Mr Hill and Mrs Hill. The bride, who was attired in cream georgette, was given away by her father, and was attended by Miss Catherine King (her cousin; as bridesmaid. The best man was Mr Ballington Hill, brother of the bridegroom. Tho church was crowded with friends and relatives of the contracting parties, and the ceremony was of a choral nature. The Rev. Mr Hill, pastor of the parish, officiated. After the wedding the guests repaired to the residence of Mr and Mrs King, where a sumptuous wedding breakfast was enjoyed. Numerous, useful and costly were the gifts bestowed upon, the young couple (who have spent all their lives in the district), and they included a number of cheques. The usual toasts were most enthusiastically honoured. The bridegroom suitably responded.
