Fhe discharges SCO tons of coal' and returns to Grevmouth to load for Lyttelton. The Port Caroline is scheduled to leave London on July 17 for Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland, "Wellington, and Hawke’s Bay. The Paloonn. which is due at Melbourne on Tuesday from Wellington, is timed to leave again on Saturday next for Bluff. She should reach Dunedin about May 29. The Moana left Papeete on Tuesday last for San Francisco, m continuation of her vovage from \\ eliington. She is due at the Californian port on May 23. The Westralia. which will arrive at Wellington to-day from Melbourne, passengers and 2265 tons of cargo for New Zealand ports, of which 530 tons will be discharged at that port. The Westralia ia limed to leave Wellington on Tuesday evening for Lyttelton, Dunedin, Bluff. and Melbourne.
The Tainui arrived nt Wellington 'vora Bluff on Thursday night to complete her jjomewnrd loading, and the vessel is at present fixed to sail on Tuesday afternoon. The Opawn will he delayed at Lyttelton owing to the holidays connected with ths visit 01 the Prince of W'ales, and i? not e.xoected to arrive at Dunedin until about May 21 with the balance of her Liverpool cargo. Cable advice received by the Lnion Company states that the barque Gladurook arrived at Callao on April 30 from Newcastle. She will load nitrates back to Australia. The Keren an lie is the name given to a four-masted schooner launched early this month from the Huon Timber Company a yard at Hospital Bay (Tasmania). The New Zealand Shipping Company’s t»ew steamer Otaki arrive)l at Port Chalmers on Saturday afternoon from Liverpool Tria Newport News, Colon. Panama, and »orth New Zealand porta, and went up to Dunedin and berthed at the Victoria wharf yesterday to discharge over 1500 tons of genera! merchandise. This is the third vessel owned by the company to be called ty this name (says the Sturt. The first was the sailing ship, and the second was the steamer sunk in March, 1917, after a gallant fight with the German raider Moewe. The new Ocoki wad launched from the yards of Messrs Barclay, Curie, and Co., of the Clyde, and is ft twin-screw steamer, of 4985 tons net and 7064 tons gross. She is -162 ft long, and has a breadth of sSft 2in. The vessel is equipped with »dl the latest devices for handling cargo, land has a speed of over 13 knots. She left. Liverpool on February 26, and arrived at Newport News on March H after a very tough trip. The vessel left Newport News ■fca March 16 for Colon, where she arrived t>n March 21. Owing to a land slip in the tanamar Canal ska was compelled to anchor in the Gatun Lake for five days. On lla rch 27 she was able to get through the tonal, and continued her voyage to Auckland. Captain J. H. Gordon is in command. From Dunedin the Otaki will proteed to Lyttelton and Sydney to complete t&scharge.
