A.S.R.S. CLAIMS. TRIBUNAL’S SITTING OPENED. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 14. The tribunal set up to consider the A.S.R.S. section of the railway dispute held its first sitting to-day. The order of reference directs the tribunal to enquire and report to the Minister of Railways on such matters affecting rates of pay and conditions of work of the second division as may be brought before it by the department or the A.S.R.S. It is directed that the enquiry may be conducted in public whenever the members think fit. To-day’s proceedings are private. The Prime Minister attended the opening of the tribunal. Mr Bullock, superintendent of the New Zealand Shipping Company, is chairman. The Department’s representatives are Mr Mac Donald (Assistant General Manager), Mr Mouat (Chief Clerk), and Mr McArtney (Advertising Manager). The Society’s representatives are Mr Hampton (president), Mr Mack (secretary) and Mr F. Carr. In the E.F. and C.A. dispute the arrangement is that two outside representatives are to be selected. The Society -has nominated Messrs VV. D. Hunt and Mr Dicksou, M.P. Consideration of the matter went on satisfactorily during the afternoon, and will be resumed to-morrow. The representatives of the Government on the Loco Dispute Committee will be Messrs James Marchbanks, formerly chief engineer of the old Manawatu Railway Company and Mr W. H. Millward, sometime manager of the Gear Meat Company.
