REVOLT IN MEXICO

MEXICO CITY, May 13. There are conflicting reports from Vera Cruz regarding Carranza. It now appears that Carranza is fighting the revolutionaries at Hacienda and Tamarig with GOOO troops. The revolutionaries have 14,000. The battle is staged 70 miles south-east of Mexico City. The general news shows that the trend is toward a revolutionary victory. It is reported that the rebels are surrounding Carranza’s train at Apinaco. Three hundred Carranzists have been killed, and Carranza’s life is endangered. CARRANZA’S SPOIL. FLIGHT WITH CONTENTS OF THE TREASURY. A FURIOUS BATTLE. WASHINGTON, May 13. Reports from Mexico state that when Carranza fled from Mexico City he took 27,000,000 pesos of Government funds, but the ■ rebels claim that they recaptured this when the trains carrying the President’s force were stopped. Carranza’s force made its way down the railway a distance of 35 miles before being held up by rebel troops coming from the north. The fastest reports state that furious fighting has been proceeding between the forces personally led by Carranza and the rebels. Heavy rebel reinforcements, including artillery, are being rushed forward. The rebels hope to hold a Presidential election in July. Huerta will probably act as Provisional President in the mean time. The indication? suggest the election of Obregon as President. ESCAPE OF CARRANZA. OBREGON CONTROLLING THE COAST. NEW YORK, May 14. A report from San Antonio, Texas, states that Carranza escaped through rebels and his own men by clipping off his beard and moustache. General Obregon has captured all the gunboats in the Mexican Gulf, thus controlling the east coast. CARRANZA ENCIRCLED FOR THREE DAYS. REPORT FROM OBREGON. WASHINGTON, May 13. (Received May 14, 10 p.m.) A despatch front El Paso says that General Obregon, the rebel leader, reports that Carranza has been surrounded for three days and cannot stand much longer.- The rebel troops have been ordered to allow Carranza to escape.
