CANTERBURY MARKETS. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, May 11. Oats have maintained the firmness recorded in the week-end report, there being increased inquiry' from Auckland. It may be assumed that as there is little indication of the southern market casing, northern merchants are accepting the inevitable and filling forward business at current rates. Up to 5/1 at country stations has been freely paid for A grade Cartons. Generally the market promises to be firm. Potatoes have been bought at from £4 to £4 5/- at country stations. Growers will not consider anything less than the former figure, and would probably pit before accepting it. The Koromiko is now loading at Lyttelton with potatoes, oats, and general cargo, but the intervention of the holiday will probably necessitate her going away only partially loaded. The vessel sails on Thursday, but labour at the waterfront will not be available to handle all the cargo offering. There is no change in other produce ami seed lines.
