(Received May 11, 7.30 p.m.) A daring pirate raid was perpetrated at Batum. Fifteen men hidden in the French liner Souirah suddenly appeared on the deck and took control of the ship. Firing revolvers they drove the passengers to the cabins and stripped them of money and valuables. They forced the captain to land th em near Trebizond, iuul escaped before the wireless could bring up a French destroyer. A number of Americans engaged in relief work were on board the Souirah.
