OAMARU MARKETS. OAMARU, May 10. Wheat continues to come forward in lines of a few hundred sacks, and as it comes passes into the hands of millers at full Government rates. Oats have shown a slight hardening tendency during the week, but the amount of business recorded is small. A Gartons have changed hands at 5/1 and 5/-, and B Cartons at 4/10 and 4/11, all net at country stations. Inquiries arc coming more freely from the North Island, where Auckland speculators are evidently endeavouring to cover their forward sales. But the prices offered have not sufficed to induce holders to sell. A little business has been done in Cape barley at G/9 net at a country station. A lino of oatensheaf chaff was placed at £7 net, delivered in Oamaru. There is still nothing doing in potatoes in a wholesale way. There is a better tone in the stock market, particularly in respect to sheep, and inquiries are now being received for good classes. Some sales of substantial dimensions were made, duel amongst them being one of 1200 fat and forward lambs at 25/-, and another of over 1000 fullmouthed ewes at 10/-. Other sales were made at the following prices:—Four-tooth ewes, 33/5 ; mixed four, six, and eight-tooth ewes, 30/-; full-mouthed ewes, 22/5; full and failing-mouthed ewes, 18/6; rape ewes, 17/-; fat and forward wethers, 30/-. There is a little inquire - for cattle, but practically none are offering. A line of fat bullocks was sold at £l7, and a line of mixed sex yearlings at £2.
