HOUSEHOLDERS’ MEETINGS,

HELD ON MAY 3. Drummond. —Six householders were present and Mr R. Hailum presided. The roll number for the school is 73 and the average attendance for the year was 62. The annual statement (showed a credit balance of £8 5s Id. The following were elected a committee for the ensuing year:— Messrs R, HaDnrn (chairman), A. Creighton (secretary), G. E. Chilton, E. J. Jones, J. Hawkins, and W. Woodbead. £Men}w,—No committee was elected. Fortification. —About six householders were present and Mr R- Brown presided. The roll number for the school is 18 and the average attendance for the year was 17. The mmhl statement showed a credit balance of £5 8s 6d. The following were elected a committee for the ensuing year: Messrs R. Brawn (chairman), M. L. Fallow (secretary), C. Templeton, G. Braid and J. Fleming. Kapiika South.— About 12 householders were present and Mr Austin Hobaa presided. The average, attendance for the year vn 92.2. The annual statement showed a credit balance, of £l9 Os 4tL The following were elected a committee for the ensuing year;— Messrs A, Waghotn (chairman), B. E. Brown, R. Harris, V. Graham, and Austin Hpban. Pembroke,— About ten; householders were present and Mr J., Perrow presided. The roll number for the school is 53 and the average attendance for the year 48. The following were, elected a' committee for the ensuing year:—Messrs J. Brooks (chairman), J. Perrow (secretary), R. Walker, E. C. Ewing and F. WHson. ’ Papotatara. —About ten househoaleds were precent and Mr W. Arthur presided. The roll number for the school is 62 and the average attendance for the year was 58. The annual statement showed a credit balance of £l6 2s lOd. Tie following were elected a committee for the ensuing year;— Messrs D. Galt (chairman), G. H. Stancombe (secretary), W. Arthur, T. Ward and J. Rogers. Tuturau.—Mr W. Mirir presided at the meeting. The roll number for the school is 37 and the average attendance for the year was 37.3. The annual statement showed a credit balance of £lO Os 4<L Tne following were elected a committee for the ensuing year:—Messrs W. Muir (chairman), J. Shanks (secretary)-,W. Blair, R. Dickie and J. McGrouther. The following motion was passed; —"That this meeting of householders urges upon the Government the great necessity for reform in the national system of education in regard to the securing of more trained teachers anti to this end the paying of much better salves and that special inducement in the way of salaries be made in regard to country schools.”
