The Government Statistician reports that from the outbreak of war to the armistice food prices increased 39.7 per cent, and since the armistice have advanced to 81.2 per cent. WHEAT SILOS. THE NEW SOUTH WALES SCHEME. SYDNEY, May 6. Cabinet has decided to complete the erection of wheat silos throughout the State by day labour, at a cost of £1,000,000. SAN FRANCISCO SERVICE. SYDNEY, May 6. The Union Company will resume the monthly Sydney to San Francisco service in November, and convert the vessels to oil burners. DISPOSAL OF WOOL. / MELBOURNE, May 6. A ballot of woolgrowers to decide whether a scheme of controlling and distributing of wool should be adopted has concluded. It is unofficially stated that the required 75 per cent, in favour of the scheme was not obtained.
