To onrnutnorous Constituents,— lI7HILE bringing before our friends intima- ' * tion of the Bignal success of our endeavors to place Invercargill on the same footing as other chief towns of New Zealand, by direct importation from Home — giving a most important desideratum, as it does — the guarantee of genuineness of all Patent Medicines, &c, vended at our establishment (which, by recent information, is more and more necessary, it beiug well kuown that many fictitious Patent Medicines are being made in the neighboring Colonies by unscrupulous persons, and vended through agents in this, aB well as all other large centres of population, through the medium of unwary storekeepers, hawkers, tci) can confidently be relied upou. It Bhould be remembered that while working for the interests of the community in this particular, it can only be rendered still more successful by the units of population each assisting, so that the consumption may be more and more concentrated, and greater facilities placed in the possession of those who are working out the problem of self-reliance, and actually helping those who live around us, instead of being completely dependent upon others, who must reap a large intermediate profit, which is always invested elsewhere, instead of in our midst. We therefore, whilst intimating that we have several fresh direct shipments coming forward, commend theße matters to careful consideration , believing as we do that we will deserve your increased support, and returning thank* for that already received, we would draw your attention to the followiug facts, Subscribing ourselves, JOSEPH HATCH t CO. MEMORANDA. Whilst the new ad valorem duty has been particularly heavy upon our line, no corresponding advance has been made in 'our prices. The various local industries in which we have thought proper to invest, have given us opportunities to transact business in some other branches with Agriculturists, Sheep-larmers, tc, on far better term9 than any other house. In connection with our Fishing Trade, we can confidently recommend our Seal Oil as a very reasonable substitute for Oastor Oil for axles, to., as also the best Oil for harness, at one-half the price of Neatsfoot. A LIMITED QUANTITY STILL ON HAND. Facilities at our disposal give us the best opportunity to supplv all agriculturists for this immediate season (to be deUvered at the end of this month), at the lowest price for cash, or terms as agreed, with tho finest marketable BONE DUST obtainable, delivered at the Railway Station, Invercargill, or at Riverton, orders for which must be immediately given, as there will be but one consignment, PER SCHOONER " AWARUA." And on this head we would wish to intimate to all householders, &c, that at an early date a BONE MILL will be established by us. Arrangements will be completed to purchase to any extent that useful adjunct to agricultural progress. Communications are requested from all districts, so that the only drawback, namely, the fear of not being able to get a sufficient quantity to work a Mill any length of time in each year, may be overcome. Waggoners will be negotiated with in respect of return freight from stations and outlying distriots. CALVERT'S CARBOLIC ACID SHEEP DIP can be obtained in large or email quantities — quality guaranteed — of whioh we are the largest importers aud holders. We have a few surplus tons of COARSE SALT on sale. Two and five gallon KEGS, quite new, can be obtained by early application.
