DRIVER, STEWART & CO. have beon favore I with instructions from the proprietor to sell by public auction, in the Long Room of the Club Hotel, Invercargill, Southland, on Thursday, Bth prox., that maguificent property known as SHAND'S WINTON ESTATE, Southland District, Consisting of about 8,000 acres, subdivided into farms of sizes to suit purchasers. Aho, The present Growing Crops (chiefly Wheat) which will be sold separately, before , tbe freehold. This fine property consists of rich alluvial wheat land, yielding forty to fifty bushels per acre. It is intersected from end to end by the Great North Road, and the Bluff, Invercargill, Winton, and Wakatipu Railway, thus possessing unusual facilities for the transit of produce to the interior or to the Bluff, where vosbslb of the largest class load at the wharves direct for Melbourne, London, or elsewhere. The country betweon the property and Kingston having no available timber, enhances immensely the value of tho forests of the Winton Estate. Mr Shand (himself a practical farmer of much experience), having beon one of tho earliest settlers in the distriot, had the opportunity of selecting the very best of the country, and that his selection was made with sound judgment the result amply proves. The extraordinary crops produced oy him caused such a rush to the district that the Government found it necessary to raise the upset price of Crown lands ; but too late, however, to save auy of the fine alluvial wheat lands in the Winton district, all of which have passed into private hands.
