LEET STREET.
(TO THE RUITJB OF THE TTIIE3.) Sir. — About a month ago I noticed that the Town Council had directed their Engineer to draw out plans and specifications lor the formation of Leet street, preparatory I presume to the gravelling thereof. I do hope that that very n>ee?sary work will be soon advertised, and that Gala and Yarrow streets will not be forgotten in the expenditure of the £7000 loan. The above portion of the town, though weil built upon, and inhibited, has long and patient.y sufficed the misery and expense of mudholes and slush. Last winter I had to pay six shillings to a carter to bring me a quarter cord of my own firewood. The whole town will, in a few years no doubt, be overtaken and made habitable, but if the worthy councillors will permit me to add, " attend to the requirements of the inhabited portions first." — Yours, & •., TWO FHILLIJT&3 IN THE £.
