Twenty-nine of the Armed Constabulary force have proceeded to strengthen the posts on the East Coast. In the matter of the enquiry iato the revolt on board the ship William Tapscott, the Governor has resolved to commit the men for trial and to 6end them for trial to the United States, unless the Supreme Court should interpose within fifteen days. Notice of appeal to the Supreme Court has been given, and a public subscription raised for the further defence of the men. Cipt. Challia, of H.M.S. Roaario, has reported that the vessel is unseaworthy. September 1.
Capt. Underwood, of the Alhambra, Capt. Stewart, of the Lennox Castle, and the carpenters of both vessels report that the William Tapscott is seaworthy, but recommend repairs. The engineer of the Alhambra also surveyed the vessel, and reports to the same effect. A Gisborne telegram states that the East Coast Native Lands Court has been resumed.
The inquiry into the grounding of the steamer Ladybird is proceeding.
