RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
(Before H. M'Culloch, Esq., R.M.) Fbidat, 22nd Aitghtst. D. Phillips was fined 5s and 5s 6d costs, for leaving his hone and cart unattended in the street. J. M'Keniie and G. Tomlinsom were each fined 5b and 6a 6d costs, for neglecting to have their cab« lighted. W. Ritchie, W. Stark, W. Lawton, and M. Quinn were each fined 5s and 6s 6d costs, for allowing horses to stray in the town. C. O"Hara applied for and obtained a license lor a elaughter-house, to be erected on section 4, block 3, Invercargill Hundred (Bluff Road). Monday, 25th AvavßT. Catherine Murphy was charged with being drunk and disorderly in Dee street on Saturday night, 23rd inst. Defendant has made many appearances before the Bench for the like offence, and has bat very recently come out of gaol. She evidently belongs to the incorrigible class of drunkards, and when taken into custody had to be carried to the lock-up. She pleaded hard to be let off this time, that she might be able to join her husband in Melbourne. To give her an opportunity of doing this by an early steamer, she was eeut to gaol for ten days only.
