His Honor Judge Gresson, in his charge to the Grand Jury, brought under their notice in the case of Regina v. Crisp, the legal definition of manslaughter. His Honor said that the law in such cases was- that it was the duty of the coach-driver to prevent any injury to the passengers, and that if any warit of caution were proved, the coachdriver would be guilty of manslaughter, His Honor also said that in the case ot Mr Stjffie ,, question, for thf Jjury tq consider was' whether the treatment to which deceased had been subjected was negligent or unnecessarily violent. On the application of prisoner's counsel, the case of Atkins, charged with murder, was adjourned till to-morrow. The business in the Provincial Council during the day was merely formal. The Star of the East Company has obtained 67 ounces of gold from 200 tons of quartz, and the Caledonian claim 429 ounces from 427 tons. The miners who struck have obtained full wages.
