MR LUMSDEN'S INCONSISTENCY.

♦ (TO THS EDITOB OF TffE TIXTE3.) PlB, — In the News of to-day we are favored with another of Mr Lumsden's inconclusive and rambling letters — a puzzle alike to his friends and opponents. I, and others, accuse Mr Lumsden (to put it in the mildest form) of having in a recent speech grossly misrepresented Mr Macandrew's actions and opinions in referenoe to Mr Macandrew's well-known advocacy of opening the lands for settlement under a system of deferred payments. Mr Lumsden replies by quoting a speech made by himself soipe two years ago ! ! ! After tbis, I take mf leave of Mr Lumsden, merely remarking that, if the author of such reasoning represents the intelligence of Invercargill, I pity alike the people and their representative. — Yours, <^c, Non-Electob. Invercargill, June 7, 1873.
