Public Works Office, Wellington, 4th April, 1873. WRITTEN TENDERS will be received at this office up to 4 p.m. on Monday, 12th May, 1873, for the construction of No. 1 Contract of the above Railway, being about 22 miles. They must be addressed to the Hon. the Minister for Public Works, and marked outside, " Tender for No. 1 Contract, Winton Railway." Plans and specifications may be seen at the Public Works Offices, Dunedin* and Wellington. Telegraphic tenders, similarly addressed and marked, will be received, if presented at any Telegraph Office by noon of the same date, provided that written tenders in due form are lodged at the District Engineer's Office, Dunedin, Hokitika, Christchurch, Nelson, or Auckland, by the same hour. IN pursuance of "The Regulation of Elections Act, 1870," I Walter Henry Pearson, Returning Officer for the Electoral District of Invercargill, do hereby give notice that by virtue of a writ bearing date the 26th day of April, 1873, under the public seal of the Colony, an election will be held for the return of a qualified person to serve as Member of the House of Representatives for the said Electoral District, and that the nomination of candidates will take place at the Resident Magistrate's Courthouse, Invercargill, at noon on the 20th day of May, 1873 ; and that the poll, if necessary, will be taken on Thursday, the 22nd day of Slay, 1878.
