D. Macrorie, auctioneer, reports :— The sale of < the stock of the late Mr CaTanagh, ■t Boslin Bush, on Wednesday, was unexceptionable, 1 'MjA attendance being very numerous, and the^ bidding most animated. In the absence of diisi&bt information as to the pedigree of the Xeicirtt^iPjheepjLalthough there is little doubt the strain was that of the importation ex " Flying Mist," maayiyears ago, it waffmost fortunate that .the appearance; of ; the stock was, of itself sufficient "to encourage competition among our best judges. The following are the prices realised :— Pure r Leicester ewes, 2 tooth " mdrSpWirda, £3 1.7a t0 £8" Is each; do, ewe lambs, 50s id £5 2b; do, rama, 2 tooth arid upwards, £3 to £3 8s }_do, ramjlambs, 39a to 51s ; . crossbred, ,ewes, 10s >to '14s : 9dy do wether hoggets! .ISMid i full-mouthed merino ewes, 4s. ' The mares sold from £7 10a light, to £35 10s draught. 3 horse harrows', £5 12s 6d ; plough (Bella^s) £5 ,5« r dray, £10, &c., &c. As several horses belonging to the estate had not been mustered^ and it was getting late, it was proposed - -that— the -cattle- should be offered along with them at the .approaching sale at Ott's Yards. It is not only at a ! sale of this sort that re ; actionary .tendencies are noticeable, but generally holders are found firmer in their demands, and buyers more numerous, both for stock and town and country properties. Enquiries for store cattle arecomingforward from Canterbury, which is the.exactreTerse of former experiences, and must give an upward tendency to this class. As regards property, I hare made under instructions some ■ iiigh-offerr-forbusinesß^ontages, but hare found Tendors too stiff in their requirements. Farms hare been correspondingly enhanced in Talue, and the purchasers who hare been lately seeking inresttnenta have:, come from a distance, aad teemed scarcely prepared to give the prices . asked.: ■-■: '.■'.• InTercargiH, 24th Ipril, 1873.
