MAKAREWA ROAD ASSESSMENT. npHE Makarewa Road Board hereby give notice X that at their meeting on the 15th March instant, they made for the year ending 30th June, 1873, a general rate of one shilling in the pound, on all rateable property within the district, and a special rate of sixpence in the pound on all rateable property within the Winton subdivision of the district. All rates must be paid to the collector on or before the 31st instant. The Valuation and Rate Book lies open for inspection at bis house, Ryal Bush. Any appeal to the Board against the valuation must be lodged in writing with the Clerk before the 29th inst. For the convenience of settlers he will attend at the Junction Hotel, Waikiwi, on Monday and Tuesday, the 24th and 25th inst., from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and at Mr White's Hotel, Winton, on Wednesday and Thursday, the 26th and 27th inst., from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., for the purposes of showing the Valuation and Rat* Book, receiving payment of the assessment, and receiving any written appeal against the Valuation. The appeals (if any) will be heard and decided at a special meeting of the Board, to be held at the Junction Hotel, Waikiwi, on Saturday, the 29th inst., at 930 a.m. After the close of the special meeting, the Board will meet for the transaction of ordinary business.
