THE VOLUNTEERS.

Last night an inspection parade of the Artillery, Rifles, Band, Artillery Cadets, and Rifle Cadets, was held in the Drill-3hed. The following officers were present — Artillery, Caot. Daletliesh, Lieutenant Conyers, Sub Lieutenant Butts, with 55 rank and file. Rifles, Capt. Wade, Lieutenant Ferguson, and 21 rank and file. Rifle Cadets, Lieutenant Frater and Sub-Lieu-tenaat Wesney, and 23 rank aai file. The commanding officers baring proved their respective companies in variou9 movements, the inspection of arms and accoutrements was made by Staff -Serjeant M'Pherson, who said that he would hare much pleasure in rep >rting to Major Atkinson the very excellent condition in which the anna and accoutrements were kept by the various companies The commanding officers then placed tlmr men under the command of Staff - Serjeant M'Pherson, who gave the word, "Fours right! q rick ma-ch, by the left !" The Band striking up " Wait for the Waggon," the whole moved up Spey-street, along D -c street, executing several difficult movements on the march with great precision, the officers bundling their men in admirable style, under the c].-ar an I distinct orders of Staff Serjeaafc M'Phereon. The various officers then, at Staff Serjeant M'Pherson's request, assumed command in torn, and provpd that they had acquired a good knowledge of company and batalliou drill, putting their men through the various manoe jvres with smartness and precision. On Wednesday evening, the Rifle Cadets had a field night, burning blank cartridge to their own. great satisfaction, in all the various modes of skirmish ing with a supposed enemy, under the orders of the Serjeant, who called out in turn Lieutenants Fraser and Weaney to take command, which they did like men, after the first volley had been safely discharged.
