San Francisco, Jan. 9. Since last advices, business has been healthy. Since July last, nearly 300,000 tons of wheat have been exported to the United Kingdom, and 200,000 remain to be shipped during the next six months. Wheat is rising steadily, the demand is increasing, and freights are low. Choice, 2dols. to 2dols. 15c. Barley is quiet at Idol. 35c. to Idol. 45c. Flour is in fair demand at 6dol. 10c. to 6Jol. 25c. Nett Tobk, Jan. 9. Wool, 50c. to 60c. London, Jan. 9. Mutton tallow, fair to good, 43s to 44s 6d ; mixed, 42a to 435. Beef tallow, 42s to 42a 9d per cwt. Phormium is firm.
We take the following from the Otago Daily Times : — Hokitika, Jan. 31. The s.s. Tararua arrived to-day, at nooa, from Melbourne, which port she left on the 25th. The E.M.S. Baroda, with the Suez mail, arrived there on the 18th.
