Messrs Wright, Steplienson, and Co. report for the week ending 25th January, ai follows : — Fat Cattle. — The number in was in excess of tie demand. 60 head were yarded, of which 46 found purchasers at a redaction of fully 2s per lOOlbt from late rates, and the balance were turned out. We sold 17 head at from £4 to £7 per head, equal to 17b to isb per lOOlbs for good quality, and 15s for middling do. Fat Sheep. — lhe limited supply keeps prices firm. 305 were penned. We told 69 merino ewes, poor quality, at from 5a 3d to 6». Other •ales were — 210 crosebreds, good quality, at 12s, and £6 merino ewes, in wool, at 9s 3d. Privately, we sold 300 cross bred s at 2±d per lb, which figure we quote as value of prime quality. Fat Lambs.— 200 were penned, of medium quality. We sold 125 at from 8s 3i to 8s 6d, and privately, 150 at Bs. Store Sheep. — The enquiry continues active, any good lots placed in the market being eagerly taken. Our salea comprise 2000 crossbreds, 4 and 6 tooth, at 10a, and 4000 full mouthed ewes at 4s. We quote crossbreds, 2to 6 tooth, 10s ; mixed lambs, 8s ; merino wethers, 6s 6d ; full mouthed ewes, 3u 6d to 4s ; young ewes, 5s 6d to6d. Country Sales. — On Friday we held a sale of growing crops on account of William A. Todd, Esq., East Taieri. Although the attendance of buyers was meagre, nearly every lot was diepsiod of. Wheat, a fair average crop, brought from £6 10a to £7 2s 6d per acre ; oats, middling to good, £3 to £5 do. Hones.— -Good young draught stock, ' and upstanding coach horses, keep in excellent request. We quote first-class draughts, £50 to £64 ; medium do, £30 to £35 ; good hacks and light harness, £20 to £25 ; medium do, £12 to £16 ; light and inferior, £3 to £5. Grain. — Transactions are almost nominal, as, although there is an enquiry for oats, scarcely any are offering and buyers of wheat are awaiting the arrival »f the new crop, which will be im the market very shortly.
