Mr Bryce, M.H.E., in addressing his constituents, defended Mr Stafford's native policy as compared with Mr M'Lean's, and denounced the mal-ad-ministration of the Fox Government. Mr R. Pharazyn replied, and defended the Civil Service. Mr Bryce then instanced Mr Pharazyn'a own appointment as a sinecure. A vote of confidence was carried amid cheers, Mr Pharazyn being the only dissentient. Chbistchtjhch, Jan. 30. At a public meeting, it was decided to send a crew to represent the city »t the Interprovincial regatta. Eaiapoi has already entered a boat. DtTNEDiiir, Jan. 30. At the sale of station property, held on "Wednesday, Mr R. Campbell bought the West Dome and Wyndley stations for £16,000, and Wairaki for £13,750. Mr F. Roberts bought Spvlaw for £16,500. At the wool sales yesterday, greasy ruled lower than at the previous sales"; washed and scoured commanded full prices. A Scandinavian settlement is proposed at Greytown.
Volunteers D and J. Buchanan, of thf West Taieri corps, have qualified as representatives at the Colonial prize firing. Mr Allen has been elected captain of the Otago cricket team for the interprovincial match. The Otago has cleared out for London with 5193 bales of wool. Arrived. — Margaret Galbraith, from Glasgow, all well. She brings a lot of pure-bred stock in fine condition.
