New Tobk, Oct. 28. The rates of freight have advanced, owing to the increased difficulty of obtaining suitable vessels. There is no vessel on the berth for New Zealand. The produce market is languid and depressed. At the wool sales, 380 bales were sold at 52 cents to 57 cents. 460,0001bs hare been sold privately. At auction, 77,4001bs were sold at 42 cents to 48£ cents. At Boston there is a larger movement, and fuller prices have_JpLejen—ahtaina^ -rangrng^prlncTpairj from 52% cents to 56 cents. Stocks of this description are fast disappearing. Sales have been effected as follows: 602,0001b5, at 53 cents; 45,0001bs at 52* cents ; lOOOlbs at 56 cents to 60 cents ; and 82 ,0001 b 8 at 50 cents to 53£ cents. New Zealand flax has been sold freely. 100 bales were sold at 9 cents, and 700 bales at 9| cents. The East Lothian is at hand with an additional quantity. At auction New Zealand flax has been in better demand, at fair prices. 650 bales medium fetched £29 to £32 10s ; good, fine, clean, £33 to £36 15s ; and low, £14 15a to £15 15s. Hides are in good demand at full rates. 3000 lamb-skinß fetched 4fd per lb. 80 bales long-woolled sheepskins fetched Is 4d to la 7fd. Tallow is in good demand. 5374 casks were sold at 45s to 44b for sheep, and 43s 9d to 43i 6d for beef.
