NOTICE. r T LENDERS will be received by the undersigned 1 up till noon of Monday, the 20th day of January next, from persons desirous of leasing that Block of land in the province of Otago, known as the " University Endowment Reserve," Forest Hill, and situated between the forks of the Titipua and Hedgehope streams, in the Forest Hill District, subject to the following terms and conditions, i.e. : — 1. Tenders are to be addressed to the Com missioner of Crown Lands, at his offiee in Invercargill, and are to be for the whole of the Reserve. A form of tender will be supplied by the Commissioner. 2. The land to be leased is estimated to contain ten thousand acres, or thereabout, and a tracing of it can be seen at the office beforementioned, by intending Lessees. Persons tendering will be held to have accepted the boundaries shown on this tracing, and no allowance or compensation will hereafter be made should it turn out that they are inaccurate. 3. The term to be granted is 14 years, commencing from the date when notice of acceptance of tender is given to tbe Lessee. 4. The rent is to be stated at eo much per acre. 5. Each person tendering must accompany his tender with a sum of £10, or a marked cheque on a bank at Invercargill, for £10. In case bis tender is accepted, that sum will be retained to cover cost of preparing: Lease, and if not accepted, then such cheque, or the proceeds thereof, will be returned on application. 6. The person whose tender is accepted will be required within fourteen days after receiving notice thereof from the Commissioner of Crown Lands, to execute a lease which will be prepared by the Crown, and a form whereof, with the covenants and conditions to be inserted therein, can be seen at the before-mentioned office. The lease will be executed by the Governor, on behalf of Her Majesty, and is intended to be granted under the provisions of the University Endowment Act, 1868. 7. It shall not bo binding on the Crown to accept the highest or any tender. WALTER H. PEARSON, Commissioner Crown Lands.
