Dido goes South with the Superintendent, after which she Trill be docked. It is probable that the Christian M'Ausland will be admitted to pratique in a fortnight. The case reported on board the Palmerston to be gastric feyer, turns out to be an unmistakeable case of scarlet fever. The Board of Health have resolved to place the Palmerston's passengers into lighters at the Sandspit, which is to be proclaimed a Quarantine Station. The case of scarlet fever progresses favorably, and there is no prospect of its spreading. The Miners' Conference have resolved to constitute a central Miners' Association for the Province, with Mr Miller, of the Arrow, aa president. The first circuit of the Supreme Court at Lawrence was opened to-day, when Julia Driscoll, a child, was indicted on three charges of obtaining money on false pretences. The accused was discharged. There was only the one case. The latest intelligence from the liock and Pillar diggings ia to the effect that two diggers remain prospecting. The ground is very patchy, but good finds are reported. It is thought that it will become a permanent goldfield. The Diocesan Synod commences its sittings on Wednesday. Sailed. — James Nicol Fleming, for London, and Strathnavar, for Auckland.
