RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
♦ (Before H. M'Culloch, Esq., R.M.) Wednesday, November 27. William Salmon was charged with stealing a Tiumber of carpenters' tools, the property of William Moore, settler at Waikiwi. The accused 'is a new arrival by the Bebington. He had been worling for Mr T&oore, who miss»*<3 a number of fools as the accused was about to leave, some of them being ultimately found at the bottoir of his bag. He said they must have got there by acc'dent. William Salmon was also charged with stealing a shirt, scarf-pin, pair of stocking?, pnir of boots, and two twopenny pieces, the property of William Cooper, a Bhipmate. A few only of the articles said to be stolen were recovered. The evidence was not very conclusive. His "Worship dismissed both, charges, with a eevere caution to the accused.
