CUSTOMS RETURNS.

The following has been collected as Oustoms Revenue during the week ending Saturday, November 23rd:—

H. E. Osborne, auctioneer, reports the sale of the lease for seven years of 2700 acres fine grazing country in the Western district, consisting principally of low limestone ridges, beautifully grassed, with buildings and fenceß in good repair, and all the appliances for working a small sheep station, for £190 per annum. This (being a iona fide sale, on account of the health of the proprietor compelling him to leave) wa3 an opportunity of securing a desirable and remunerat ive investment for a moderate amount of capital such a* does not often occur, and certainly ought to Lave attracted a larger amount of competition than took place.

D. Macrorie, auctioneer, reports : — The yards were supplied ou Saturday with a very good stamp of draught horses, and the result proved how little the demand is to be depended upon. An offer of £45 for the most valuable was declined, and one lot only of a lighter description changed hands by private treaty at £19. This year has exhibited little or no enquiry for " weeds" to convey the shearers up countty, bat I supplied two for that purpose at £5 7s 6d and £5 15b respectively. The waggon was not offered, though purchasers were present, havine been unscrewed and used for timber purposes without authority, which compelled me to decline taking delivery in tbat condition. In the rooms, the' demand, afternoon and evening, was scarcely up to that standard which the superior quality and varied assortment would have warranted , bat this will no doubt be remedied as the tale becomes more generally known. The inquiry for well-grown steers apparently increases, in fact all descriptions of sheep and cattle will find purchasers at improved rates. Albion lards, 25th Nov., 1872.
