The brigantine Amherst arrived from Newcastle on Sunday. She sailed thence on the 26th nit., and experienced fine weather on the passage. She brings 220 tons of coals, consigned to Messit Pay & Campbell. The Amherst has undergone extensive repairs and alterations •ince she was owned by Captain Gilroy, of this port. Her rig h&B been altered from that of a brig to a brigantine, with double topiail yards. She is so much improved that it is doubtful if •he could be recognised, even by her previous owners.
