Dunedin, Sept. 6. The Catholics here intend starting a paper. Two Chinese have been lost in a snowstorm on the Lammerlaw ranges. Private letters received by the mail say that the City of Dunedin encountered fearful weather on the passage home, and narrowly escaped founderi ng. Flour is in good demand at from £13 to £13 10s ; bran scarce at £4 ; wheat is scarce, and is held for 5s 6d ; oats, Is lOd to 2s ; barley wanted at from 5s 9d to 6s. Wellington, Sept. 9. The following it» the new Ministry : — Mr Stafford, Premier, with, for the present, the Native Department, having two Maori chiefs as advisers, who are not to be members of the Cabinet ; Mr Waterhouse, Colonial Secretary; Mr Gillies, Colonial Treasurer ; and Mr Eeid, Minister of Public Works. Mr Fitzherbert and Mr Curtis have not yet had portfolios allotted to them.
