London, June 27th. Despatches report that the public sales were progressing with moderate anirua, tion, but the price of Coloni-il wool is somewhat lower thin that current at previous sales. Most descriptions of washed commanded about the rates current at the Jast sale, but greasy is from |d to Id cheaper. French and German buyers are not operating to any extent, and there is a large supply of English wool offered. About 200,000 bales are offered, including 41,206 New Zealand. Flax in lots were offered at auction, but firmly held. Gl bales were sold at — medium, £35 to £3S ; good, £36 10s to £45. Tallow is dull — muttoc, -13s ; beef, 42s 6d ; butter, 40s. Hides are in good demand. A small supply of Australian mutton hams was bought in at 30s. The circular of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, dated June 27th, referring to the wool sales, states that a decline occurred at the opening of to id per lb as compared with the May sales. The low rates caused holders to withdraw parcels, and a better feeling was exhibited as the sales advanced, and prices hardened. Preserved meats were unimproved, and there were 100,000 cases in stock. 21b and 41b tins were most in demand, 6.b, tins being unsaleable at 4fd to s^d per lb while 21b tins fetched 6j-d to 7|d per lb. The harvest promises well. No New Zealand wheat is offering ; Adelaide wheat has been sold at 04s. New Zealand Sixes, Ib9l, January and February, are at£Ll3 to £ILS ; Consolidated Fives at £102 to £103 10d ; do Sixes, August and September, £111 to £113. Bank of New Zealand shares are quoted at £20, and Bank of Otago shares at £3. The N. Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Company has declared a dividend of 11s Bd, and shares are firm, and in demand. The New Zealand Trust and Loan Company declared a dividend of 15s Sd ; shares are firm. Dunedin and Port Chalmers Railway mortgage debentures are at £90 to. £92.
