WELLiiraTOH', August 15. Australian telegrams just received state that the small-pox has been nearly stamped out. In Melbourne flour is quoted at £15 15s ; wheat at 7s 2d ; New Zealand wheat, 7s ; New Zealand oats, 3s 3 d. The Adelaide Government has received information that a pearl-oyster bed has been discovered ia the Northern Territory. The cable communication with Java, , on the Indo-European line, is still interrupted. Wheat in Adelaide is at 5s 9d to 5s lOd. DUNBDIN, August 15. The election for the representation of Oaversham in the Provincial Council has resulted in Mr Stout being returned, the polling being as follows : —Stout, 149 ; Fish, 110 ; Leary, 90.
