D. Macrorie, auctioneer, reports :— It it * long time since town sales of horses attracted a better attendance, or more lots found purchasers, than at the Albion Yards on Saturday. The entire horse, " Young Hero," was well competed for, and eventually the hammer fell to tbe bid of Messrs M'Kenzie Bros., at £240, the terms being one-half cash, and the balance at four months. Several hacks changed hands at prices ranging from £4 to £11 10a ; a draught colt, 2year» old, £12 10s; and 4 years old draught mare, £31. The cattle were out of condition, and did not realise over an average of £2 per head. but the best of the advertised mob hare yet to come forward. Private sales have also shown more animation. I have sold about 60 head store cattle, all over 2 years, one-fourth steers, and the balance spayed cows, at £3 per head, delivered •ixty miles, and also placed under offer a lot of full-mouthed ewes (merinoes), in lamb to pure Leicester blood, at 5s 6d per head. Albion Sale Yards, Invercargill, Aug. 5, 1872.
