Duncan Eraser, a Presbyterian minister at Ballarat, have been remitted to a Committee for investigation. It is believed that they will not be sustained, but that fchey have been made merely to retaliate upon Mr Eraser for his action in the Inglis case. Mr M'Dowall, the complainant, is a close friend of Mr Inglis. New Zealand oats are at 3s to 3s 4d. Tookey's shares have been sold at £5 ss. Buyers generally offer £4 15s, and sellers ask £5 10s. Sydney. The Hero has arrived at Newcastle. She experienced heavy weather on the passage from Auckland. The City of Melbourne put into Nelson Bay short of i coal, and has since been relieved. j There is a scarcity of sailors, and outj ward-bound ships are delayed in consequence, j The Divorce Bill has passed the second j reading, and the Assembly is now discussing tbe Telegram Copyright Bill. A sailor, while attempting to enter a brothel by force, was struck with an iron bar and fatal'y injured. The jury returned a verdict of " Justifiable Homicidt." The Eurydice is loading wool for America. The wool sales were unaffected by the recent English news, and the competition was good. An EL AIDE. Mr White, a musician, and others, forming a pleasure party, left in a small cutter on June 23rd, for a week's excursion. They have not returned, nor have they been heard of since, and great anxiety is felt regarding them. Two dogs, which are supposed to have belonged to the party, have been washed ashore. Bishop Short, of the Anglican Church, has been presented with a pastoral staff, , in commemoration of bis baying com- i pleted the 25th year of his episcopate. ' The clause abolishing barmaids, proposed by Mr Derrington to be introduced into the Public Houses Act, has been withdrawn. Wheat is at 5s 7d to 5s 9d, and flour at £12 10s to £14.
