LETTERS TO THE EDITOR.
the eibue ASn THE CATHOLIC CHURCH. Ste, — Other engagements prevent me replying; to Father Cat-den's letter in to-morrow's issue. I will here only remark that the Bomish schools, to which Mr Carden refers, existed for the purpose of teaching — at least they did teach — lies and ignorance. Also, that the devil never tried to dissuade Luther from the Mass, but endeavored to drive him to despair by pointing out that if the Bible was right, the Mass must be rank idolatry ; and that because Luther adhered to the Mass for some time after ignoring the Pope, he placed himself between two fires — the excommunication of " the Chuvch," ani the condemnation of the Bible. But with the Bible, Luther successf u'ly defied both " the Chu-ch" and the devil. You will hear from me if aU is well on Tuesday. — I am, &c, A Catholic, but not a Papist.
