George Seymour, a waiter at Gardiner's hotel, where Thompson stopped, has been taken to the hospital affected with smallpox. The demolition of the building is proposed. Thompson's dying statement leaves no doubt that he contracted the disease aboard the Nebraska. Two others who were affected went in her to Honolulu. It is proposed to place the hospital in quarantine should any fresh cases arise. Wellington has been declared an infected port. The Pearl Fishery Company has been definitely formed. Wellington, July 4. A Freight Company is being formed. The Governor arrived to-day from the North. Geetmouth, July 4. Constantine's stables have been burnt. The loss is estimated at £700. Christchubch, July 4. At the Supreme Court sittings, William Antill, charged with bigamy, has been discharged, the identity of the second wife being unproved. Dunedin, July 4. Messrs Cargill and Anderson have applied to purchase 20,000 acres of land at the Teviot. Messrs Nancarrow, Brunton, and Douglass inspected the Nevada yesterday, and found the shaft cracked in three places. They recommend that the steamer should proceed to Honolulu under easy steam. Poet Chalmebs, July 4. The steam tug Samson has been overhauled. Mr Nancarrow recommends that she Bhould have new boilers.
