♦ D. Macrorie, auctioneer, reports : — The sale at Bonnifield, in the Jacob's River district, last Thursday, commanded a good attendance, and excepting for the farm itself, and more especially after dark, full rates were realised. The former, with a crop upon it, brought an offer lastryear of £280 — on this occasion, bare of any crop, the hammer fell afc £ISO, equal to £2 per acre. Cows were sold at from £1 16s to £5 5s j in fact, the cattle averaged £2 8s 6d per head, all round, young and old. The horses fetched from £4 to £18 ; dray_, £7 5s ; plough, £3 18s ; pigs, from 5s to 3"Ss 6d each, according to age ; wheat, 3s ; barley, 3s ; oats, Is 2d, ■with. Xs 6d each, for bags. The housekold. furniture reached full rates, excepting the piano, which changed hands at £31. I also placed under offer the entire horse " Hero," a splendid chestnut of, the Lincoln breed, at £250 net cash, or interest added. The sale of drapery, boots, &C, both' at mid-day and evening, in the saia rooms, attracted a considerable attendance, but it was found advisable to withdraw the higher class goods, especially women's, for submission at the vendor's premise's during the week. Considering the advance in. the home markets, prices were dull at which I quitted. Among the quotations are tweed' 'trousers; lls'fro 13s 6d; moles, 7s to 8s; flannel' drawers, 5s 9d to 63 3d; Holland, Is 2d per yard ; waterproof cloth, 4.3 6d ; silk handkerchiefs, 4s ; ' tie's, 10s per doz. ; under vests,' 4s 7il-j shirts, 7b; half Wellington boots, 13s ; ladies' kid do, 4s 6d to ss. And a large assortment of fancy goods were icoved off at about cost price. Invereai-gill, 10th June, 1872.
