TO CONTRACTORS. rnHE Telegraph Commissioner ia prepared to JL receive tenders for the supply and delivery of two hundred and eighty (280) telegraph poles, for a line of telegraph to be constructed between Invercargill and Winton. The poles to be sawn from the heart of totara. The poles to be of tbe following dimensions, thirty (30) to be twenty* five (25) and two hundred and fifty (850) twenty (20) feet long. To be eight (8) inches square at the butt, and six (6) inches square at the top. The poles to be sound, straight, and free from shakes, knots, and sap. N.B.—Ho pole will 'be accepted which contains the least sap. The poles to be laid along the Invercargill and Winton railway between its junction with the Biverton road and Winton, at points hereafter to be indicated. The poles to b<> delivered within three months of the date of signing the contract. Tenders are to specify the price per pole as per size given. Each tender to be accompanied by a deposit of ten pounds (£10) as a guarantee of good faith, which will be forfeited by any tenderer, should he refuse to take up bis tender, ia the event of its being accepted. Each tender must include the names of two sureties for approval, who are willing to become bond for the due performance of the contract, in the event of the tender being accepted, and must be accompanied by a notification to that effect, signed by the two proposed sureties.
