DUNEDIN. Messrs Deiveb, Stewaet, and Co. report for the week ending 25th May: — Fat Cattle. — :At the Mosgiel and Town yards 73 head were yarded, all of which were sold at from £A 10s to £7 12s 6d ; of these we sold 60 head, besides 40 head privately. We have no alteration to make in our late quotations, say 20s per lOOlbs for prime quality, and 15s to 17s 6d for ordinary. Fat Sheep.— About 725 were penned as above. Of these 600 were ewes, and brought 6s ; 25 cross-breds brought lls 9d ; and balance turned . out at this figure. We sold 600 ewes at 6s ; and privately 320 cross- breds at lls 6d. We quote prime cross-breds at 2f d to 3d ; and merinos, 2£d per lb. Store Cattle. — No important transactions. Store Sheep. — Buyers are still disinclined to meet the views of holders, consequently but few. 'transactions result. Sales can be effected at following prices, say :— Merino wethers, 6s 6d to 7s ; ditto ewes, 2to 6-tooth, 6s to 6s 6d ; ditto lambs, 5s to 5s 6d ; cross-breds, 2-tooth and over, lls to 12s ; do lambs, 6s to 7s. Stations. — We have numerous enquiries, but no transactions to report. WboL — There ia but little to report regarding this staple, for, as usual at this season of the year, the quantity coming forward is quite trifling. The demand for all descriptions continues active— for light greasy parcels especially ■o — and all such offering meet with ready sale at full prices. Private telegrams via Suez, announce the opening of the April- May sales in London, on 11th April, with a large attendance of bnyers. Prices ruling on a level with the closing rates of the February-March series, but strange to say, the public telegrams via San Francisco, London date 26th April, are silent as to the progress of these sales. It is apparent, however, from the extreme prices current for New Zealand and Australian wools in Boston and New York, that the aspect of the London market must be favorable. Sheepskins. — No sales have been held during the week, and we have no alteration to note in •prices. New Zealand Hemp. — A further advance of 20s per ton in the London market is reported via San Francisco. On the spot there is scarcely any business doing, for although there is a fair demand, the quantity coming into the market is very limited. ' Grain. — For wheat there is a fair demand for moderate requirements, and a considerable quantity has changed hands during the week at from 5s for godcT~ td~ss 2(1 for choice qualities. There is, however, an almost total absence of speculative demand. Prime malting barley is exceedingly scarce, and readily saleable at 5s 3d. Oats continue very dull of sale at from 1b 9d for feed to Is lid for milling samples.
