Mess^ Dhttsb, Siewabt, and Co. report for the -Bcei esSsg Uth May : — Fa: Caftie — The market haa been well suppUed ■with good quality beef. 27 head were sold at the Kaikorai yards, and about an equal number at MosgieL We have no change to note in prices ; prime quaUty being saleable at about 20s, and second-class at 15s to 17 s per lOOlbs. Fat Sheep. — Only about 175 were penned at Kaikorai yards; half-breds realising 13s, and merino ewes 6s. We quote prime cross-breds at 2£d, .and merinos at 2^d. Store Cattle. — With the exception of a few emaU lots of mixed ages and sexes, we have no transactions to report. Quiet, weU-bred buUocks are always saleable. Store" Sheep. — There is an increasing demand for every description of sheep, buyerß offering advances on late quotations. We have sold 2000 aged ewes at 4s to 4s 9d. We quote cross-breds at 10s to lis ; merino wethers at 6s to 6s 3d ; ewes, 2, 4, and 6-tooth, 5s 6d to 6s ; ditto, fullmouthtd, 4b to 4s 9d ; lambs, 5s to 5s 6d ; crossbred ditto, 6a to 7s. Station Property. — We do not hear of any properties offering, although there are buyers at fuU value. WooL — The business done during the week has been Umited to the sale of about 30 bales odd lots by auction on Bth inst., for which very full prices were reaUsed. We shaU offer about 100 bales wool, and a quantity of sheepskins, on Wednesday, 15th inst. By tbe Suez maU to-day to hand, we are put in possession of London advices to 22nd March, and telegrams to the 12th April. The latter, however, are of no great importance, beyond confirming correspondence as to the favorable prospects for the AprU series, as the mention of extreme prices obtained has reference only to the February-March sales, which closed on the Ist of the latter month, and of which catalogues are to hand. We subjoin the report of our London agents, Messrs Miles Bros, and Co., of date 22nd March : — " WooL — Since the last sales, which closed firmly on Ist inst., the market has been very steady, and there has been a fair private demand for both washed and greasy wools; but few parcels have changed hands, as the prospects of the April sales to commence on 11th prox. are good. The stock of wool in the hands of the trade is smaU, and we think it likely late rates wiU be maintained at the ensuing sales, but should any reduction take place it wiU probably be upon those descriptions for which extreme rates have been paid. The arrivals to date are : — New South Wales and Queensland, 19,152 ; Victoria, 42,463 ; South AustraUa, 12,5r>6 j Western Australia, 1024 ; Tasmania, 562 ; New Zealand, 12,941 ; Cape of Good Hope, 14,974. 103,672 bales. " New Zealand Hemp. — The market remains firm, and very fuU prices have been obtained for the few parcels sold, but business is restricted, owing to the small stocks on band. At pubUc eale 350 bales changed hands, at prices ranging firom £33 5a to £38 per ton. The flalcione, with 1200 bales, haa arrived. "Sheepskins. — The demand continues very active, both for green and dry skins — the latter for shipment — and aU coming into the market meet with ready sales at very fuU prices. About 1000 were sold at auction at 2s 9d each, and we quote choice fuU-wooUed, dry, at up to ls per lb."
