.«. Uunedot, May 13. In the Provincial Council, Mr Reid declined to furnish Mr Shepherd with information in re. the Oreti Contracts, because the papers were before the Select Committee. Mr Daniel's motion in favor of the construction of a tramway from Riverton to Orepuki, payment to be made in land, was carried ; as also Mr Lutnsden's motion calling attention to two clauses in the Union Act ; Mr Cutten's, thanking the Volunteers for their successful representation of the province at the Colonial prize-firing ; Mr Daniel's motion for a reserve for the Western District Farmer's Association ; and the H on. Mr M'Lean's motion thafc reserves of six acres should be recommended in favor of all Agricultural and Pastoral Societies. Mr Basstian proposed a resolution in favor of a tramway running up the valley of the Aparima to Ofcautau. Mr M' Arthur's amendment requiring that information should be obtained regarding the best line for opening up the western district was carried. The financial statement has been postponed till Thursday.
