Messrs 'Deivee, Stewabt, and Co. report for the week ending 4th May : — Fat. Cattle. — About .25 head were yarded at the .Eaikorai Yards on Wednesday, half of which - were disposed of at from £4 2s 6d to £7 2a 6d. We, however, sold at our Mosgiel Yards, on "Tuesday, 60 head, at from £4 2s 6d to £7 5s ; - ihe most of these were rery prime quality, but rather light weights. Keally prime quality may be quoted at 18s to 20s per lOOlbs, eecond-claas at 15b to 17s. Fat Sheep. — Only 300 were penned at Kaikqrai. Cross-breds brought lls 6d ; merino ewes and wethers, inferior quality, 6s 3d to 7s 9d. "WFhave sold 1500 merino wethers and ewes, for forward delivery, at 2d on station, and 2£d per lb in~town. Store Cattle. — No transactions, with fair demand for quiet well-bred bullocks. Store Sheep. — A good demand continues for every c'ass of sheep, and buyers are inclined to advance on late rates. We have sold 1000 full-mouthed ewes, at 4s ; 1000 mixed ages at 4s 3d ; and our Oamaru correspondent, Mr Henry Connell, reports the sale of 700 maiden ewes at 4s, and 1100 full-mouthed ditto, at 3s 9d. We quote cross-breds at 9s to lls ; merino wethers at 5s 6d to 6s ; ewes, 4 and 6- tooth, 5s to 5s 6d ; ditto, full-mouthed, 4s ; merino lambs, 5s each ; cross-bred ditto, 6s to 6i'6deach.' ; ; '.:'.. Station Properties are in good request, and any offering for bond fide sale, would find buyers at full value. Wool. — On Ist inst. we held a sale by auction, the catalogue comprising about 120 bales, chiefly odd lots. The attendance of buyers was not large, but competition was unusually spirited, and (with the exception of two or three) all lots catalogued were disposed of at prices showing a considerable advance on late quotations. One choice parcel of 23 bales scoured, realized the top price of the season, viz., 2a 3d per lb. There is still a very active demand for well-conditioned parcels suitable for shipment. Inferior descriptions are also inquired for, but have not partaken of the late improvement in value to any noticeable extent. .
