The usual weekly mooting of tlu Town Council takes place to-night, having been postponed on account of tho fast day yesterday. The conference of Mayors of the various municipalities in the province is likely to be held towards the end of the month, immediately before the meeting of Council. The receipt is acknowledged of the following contributions to the exhibits in tha Provincial Museum presented by Mr Theo. Daniel, Riverton f — Piece of silioifiod wood from Moa Creek, Longwood ; specimens of roofing slate from Preservation Inlet; a bone mere (110 Putu Parawai teueiraku), found at Jacob's River ; a specimen of tin ore and a large piece of Nephrite, from the West Coast ; some Vivianito, from Orepuki ; two stone adze 3, and a curious fiah, in bad stato of preservation, but probably a DioJon. On February 15 a public meeting wis hold at Levuka (Fiji), the object being the overthrow of the present Ministry. Messrs Burfc and Woods are the unpopular men, and it is thought that tho whole revenue of the country will shortly be absorbed in aal tries to useless officials. £ETrom news received via Sydney, which appeared in our last, our readers wi'l have seen that Mr Burt has since resigned.] — Capt.
